Lion shot dead in Berg en Dal staff quarters
An old male lion was shot dead in the Berg en Dal Rest Camp staff living quarters this morning
The ranger on scene attempted to coax the animal out of the area, but with no success. The report of the animal came in at 01:50, but it was only put down at 02:30.
According to Isaac Phaahla, GM: Communications and Marketing at SanParks there was no veterinarian available and human lives were at stake. “Attempts were made to drive it out but were unsuccessful and putting it down was the last option,” he says.
