UPDATE: Suspects arrested for possesion of dagga valued at R180 000, released on bail of R2 000

Two suspects that were arrested for alleged possession of dagga,with a street value of about R180 000, recently appeared in Lydenburg Magistrate’s Court.
Brig Leonard Hlathi, police spokesperson, said, “The two suspects, Godfrey Sekgobela (38) and Themba Nkosi (34) were released on a bail of R2 000 on Wednesday. They will appear again on June 10″.
Hlathi said the two were arrested after police received information about people who were involved in drug trafficking between Mbombela and Lydenburg last Tuesday.

“The police were following up on the information when they noticed a white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi with two occupants. They stopped the vehicle, conducted a thorough search and found six bags of dagga stashed inside,” he explained.
“They were immediately arrested and a preliminary investigation revealed that the men had been transporting the dagga from Mbombela to Lydenburg.”
The provincial commissioner of theSAPS, Lt Gen Mondli Zuma, applauded the members of the public for supplying information to the police.
He also urged community members to continue working with the police.
