Modikwa records first Covid-19 case

BURGERSFORT – Modikwa Platinum Mine’s business leader Wessel Phumo confirmed the mine’s first Covid-19 case yesterday.

Modikwa Mine has recorded its first Covid-19 case.

” It is regrettable to confirm that an employee tested positive for Covid-19. The employee is not part of the recalled team. She fell sick whilst at home and reported to the mine’s clinic on Friday for consultation on the persistent cough.

“Upon her arrival at the clinic, she was screened, tested and transferred to a quarantine facility and her test results came out positive on Monday (May 18),” revealed Phumo in a statement addressed to the miners.

He said a tracing team is currently underway to establish potential contacts.
