The email, falsely spread under Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane's name, allegedly asks recipients for money.

According to a media statement released on June 11, Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane was disappointed to find that a fake email account had been created in her name. Messages asking people for money were allegedly doing the rounds.

The premier has since reported the matter to the South African Police Services.

“I appeal to anyone who has received such an email to contact the police. People must not respond or give these scammers any money as I do not send anyone emails asking for anything,” said Mtshweni-Tsipane.
