Kaapsehoop Adventures steadily being rebuilt by the community after suffering devastating fire damage

After suffering devastating fire damage at the end of last month, Kaapsehoop Adventures is steadily being rebuilt by the community. Phase 3 of the rubble clearing prior to the rebuild recently took place, according to its Facebook page.

“Grateful thanks again to the community for their back-breaking labour and donations of refreshments and food to fuel the workers,” the post read.

“We are also redoing our lapa floor and building a braai and pizza oven – taking our unique place to greater heights!” The Kaapsehoop Adventures Facebook page featured a post after the fire asking for help.

“If you’re willing and able, we would be very grateful for help of any nature – volunteering by assisting with the clean-up or the rebuild. Bring your unique skills along and help us with painting, building, decorating and so on. Donations of building materials will also be welcomed.

The community responded and the next day a major clean-up was in progress. However, it is evident that the building is unfortunately beyond restoration, “but we have long-term plans for a larger venue which will lend itself to functions.

So the walls came down last week, thanks again to all concerned for their labour,” said Pierre van Zyl, owner of Kaapsehoop Adventures.

“Great progress is also being made on the new storeroom which will allow us to furnish another bedroom to add to our existing facilities. Next week we will clear the rubble out.

Anyone with a strong back and willing hands is welcome to come and assist. Thanks to all who have donated to our cause thus far, be it funds, labour or furniture – it is much appreciated and those who have offered building materials – we haven’t forgotten you!”
