Barberton Grade 8s partake in tree planting tradition
Hoërskool Barberton’s grade eights have planted two trees to cement their place at the school.

The initiative, which has been ongoing for years, is one of several projects planned for the grade eights.
The project is symbolic. As the learners go through high school and grow, so do the trees. Even after they have left school, the trees will still be there. Previous years’ ones have already started to bear fruit.
The boys and girls planted trees separately as the school has implemented gender teaching to comply with Covid-19 regulations.

Brand Louw, media correspondent of Hoërskool Barberton, said not only is the project environmentally friendly and sustainable, but it also adds to the visual appeal of the school.
“We are very proud of our school’s garden and this initiative is helping to contribute to that,” said Louw. “It provides shade and looks beautiful.”
