Repairs to White River pump line in progress
A major leak sprung in the pump line beneath the Nels River recently. Water tankers have been dispatched to supply water to the affected communities while repairs are in progress.
Repairs on the White River pump line have started after a major leak was detected beneath the Nels River on Tuesday November 7.
The pumps on this specific line could no longer operate and the system collapsed. The spokesperson for Silulumanzi, Richmond Jele, said they were forced to shut the line down for dewatering and assessment of the repairs.

He said the timeframe for the repairs to be completed cannot be estimated at this stage. “We will liaise with members of the affected communities for any updates on the progress and try to minimise the repair time and completion of the works,” he promised.
Jele said there is currently no pumping taking place and the situation will continue until the repairs had been done. Water disruption to the following areas is to be expected: Elawini, Drum Rock, Mountain View, Penryn, Ridge Hill, White River, Phumlani, eBundu Lodge and Rocky Drift.
In the meantime, water tankers were dispatched to provide water to the affected areas.
This is a developing story. Lowvelder will update its readers once more information becomes available.
