Steelpoort’s dangerous pothole fixed
Residents said several accidents occurred on the D1296.
The problematic pothole next to the mini bridge between Steelpoort and Winterveld, on the D1296, has been repaired.
The large pothole had been a concern to motorists, causing accidents and extensive car damage.
According to some motorists, driving on the D1296 became increasingly dangerous due to drivers swerving to avoid the large pothole.

Steelpoort resident Penesana Lazarus Magakwe said he had witnessed two accidents next to the bridge recently.
“I drive on the D1296 on daily basis. I witnessed two accidents, one involving a Toyota Avanza on October 29 and the other a Mercedes-Benz on November 4. After the second accident, I searched for the guys from Limpopo public works. Luckily I found them on duty along the R555. I showed them pictures of the gigantic pothole, and within an hour, it was fixed. They responded positively and hopefully this will save lives,” confirmed Magakwe.

An employee of the Limpopo Department of Public Works, who was not authorised to speak to the media, said it took them about an hour to fix the pothole. “We were alerted by Magakwe about the pothole. It is now fixed and motorists can travel with ease.”
