Bahula donates blankets to elderly citizens
Bahula encouraged businesses and community members to also donate to the needy and the elderly
The Sekhukhune District Municipality’s (SDM) executive mayor, Minah Bahula, vowed in Ga-Mphanama Village last Friday to support the elderly and provide for their needs.
In a heartfelt gesture towards the cherished elders in the society, she has undertaken a blanket drive initiative to provide comfort and relief.
Over 1 000 of the elderly in Fetakgomo Tubatse in Ga-Mphanama and the surrounding areas, such as Magagamatala, Mogorogoro, Seleteng, Mmuane, Matamong, Malaeneng, Sepakapakeng, Mototolwaneng and Matebane, have benefited and largely appreciate the SDM’s gesture.
Recognising the invaluable role played by elders in society, Bahula expressed her commitment to ensuring their well-being.
“The elderly hold a special place in our community, and it is our duty to care for them. Through initiatives like the blanket drive programme, we aim to provide not only physical warmth, but also a sense of appreciation for their significant contributions in society.”
This blanket drive is an integral component of Bahula’s special initiatives, focusing on community welfare and engagement. This programme aligns with her vision to create positive impacts and bring relief to communities within the Sekhukhune District.
“We believe in fostering a sense of unity and compassion within our community. The blanket drive is just one way we can extend a helping hand to those who have paved the way for us.”
The SDM encouraged businesses and community members to support this noble effort by contributing to the programme, as this will make a meaningful difference in many lives.
Bahula was accompanied by her counterparts, the local mayor of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, Cllr Eddie Maila, and the mayor of Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality, Cllr Merah Mahlase.
