Mpumalanga Hawks on manhunt for suspect of fraud and theft

A suspect, originally from Zimbabwe, is being sought in connection with a case of fraud and theft reported in the Kruger National Park in 2022.

The Mpumalanga Hawks are calling for the community’s assistance to determine the whereabouts of a Zimbabwean citizen, Amos Tineyi Kampinya (44), who allegedly stole almost R900 000.

The suspect is sought in connection with a case of fraud and theft that took place in Lower Sabie in the Kruger National Park in July 2022.

According to the Mpumalanga Hawks’ spokesperson, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, Kampinya worked as a manager of the Mugg & Bean in Lower Sabie.

“It is alleged that Kampinya stole company funds to the amount of R897 229.50 and disappeared. He was sought at his previously known address in Karino [outside Mbombela] and was not found,” Sekgotodi said.

She said the provincial Hawks’ head, Major General Nicholas Gerber, has urged Kampinya to come forward and also appealed to the community to provide them information regarding his whereabouts. The investigating officer, Captain Mandla Mphephethe, may be contacted on 071 481 3295.

“The general assured the community that all information provided will be dealt with confidentially,” Sekgotodi said.
