Maroela Makiti delights Mbombela attendees

Road races, marula delights and local performances highlighted the annual Maroela Makiti.

The annual Maroela Makiti took place at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday February 3.

This year the participants had the opportunity to engage in two new activities, a 4.9km and 10km road race.

Various marula products, including liqueur and chutney, were available for purchase. Traditional favourites like vetkoek, biltong, jaffles and pancakes were also on sale. The youngsters had a blast in the play area with activities such as bouncy castles and a slip ‘n slide.

Local artists Michelle de Lange, Xanthé Jacobs, Barno Venter, Debbie Kriel and the well-known Piet Pompies provided entertaining performances.

Danie Erasmus, the organiser, said that although the turnout was lower than expected, the event was still a success. He added that the attendees thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
