Mpumalanga dams mostly full, especially after weekend of rain
The dams in the Inkomati Catchment Area are all standing at a capacity of 95% and over.
While most dams in Mpumalanga are currently sitting at levels between 70% and 100%, all the dams in the Inkomati Catchment Area are sitting between 95% and 101%, especially after all the weekend’s rain.
The Department of Water and Sanitation sent out its weekly dam level statistics on Monday April 8, which showed that all dams but one, the Nooitgedacht Dam, showed increases in their water levels from the last time the levels were recorded on April 5.

While Nooitgedacht displayed a minute decrease, going from 95.88% to 95.77%, Vygeboom went from 100.51% to 100.68% and Driekoppies from 100.55% to 100.57%. Witklip Dam showed a bit more of an increase from last week’s reading, going from 100.45% to 101.2%, while Kwena, Da Gama and Inyaka dams all showed small increases, but increases nonetheless.
Kwena went from 100.32% to 100.4%. Da Gama was at 99.81% last week, climbing to 100.29%, and Inyaka was at 100.26%, but now sits at 100.79%.
