We Care 4 Nelspruit celebrates Earth Day with clean-up

The organisation recently conducted a clean-up campaign to encourage locals to make conscious decisions to conserve the environment.

In commemoration of the internationally recognised Earth Day, observed annually on April 22, We Care 4 Nelspruit conducted a clean-up initiative at the Village Park between Ehmke and Ferreira streets in Mbombela on Saturday April 20.

This organisation has worked hard to keep the city clean on a regular basis.

We Care 4 Nelspruit’s founder, Pr TJ Maré, said they invited locals and businesses to be part of the initiative.

“To celebrate Earth Day, we came up with the idea to clean up around the park to make it safe for locals to enjoy. We are always cleaning up at various locations around the town, but this was to encourage locals take care of the environment,” Maré said.

He said environmental conservation is important.

“We only have one Earth and we need to take care it. It is not just about the rubbish disposed, but choosing to take care of the environment daily, such as making a conscious decision whether you need a paper receipt from the store or not.”

He said We Care 4 Nelspruit encouraged locals to recycle where possible as part environmental conservation.
