Man found dead in White River water canal

Police have asked for the community's assistance in finding the deceased's relatives.

The White River police are investigating a case of murder after the naked body of a man was discovered inside a water canal near a bus terminal on Saturday June 29.

According to the White River Police Station’s spokesperson, Sergeant Funeka Mathebula, the body was discovered by community members who were passing the water canal.

“When the police arrived, paramedics were called to the scene and the man was declared dead. The cause of death is currently unknown. Anyone who might have a relative who has gone missing is requested to immediately get into contact with the police in White River,” Mathebula said.

According to her, the man has been described as African, dark in complexion, slender and about 1.6m tall. His age is estimated to be over 50 years old.
