One dead in accident in Bushbuckridge, road remains closed

According to the spokesperson for community safety, the driver of a light delivery vehicle died on impact in a head-on collision that occurred earlier today, August 29.

One person died in an accident that involved a bus and a light delivery vehicle (LDV) on the R40 near Casteel in Bushbuckridge earlier today, August 29. According to the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, it was a head-on collision and the LDV driver died on impact. He was declared dead by the paramedics. No injuries were reported and the road is currently closed.

“At this stage, it is unclear what caused the accident, however, an investigation has been launched to determine the cause. We are once again appealing to motorists to always drive with caution to avoid unnecessary accidents that result in the loss of life. They must at all times obey the rules of the road and be patient with one another,” Mmusi said.

He also sent his condolences to the family of the deceased. More details will be provided as they become available.
