N4 via Elands Valley still closed following truck accident

The N4 has not yet reopened after a truck overturned and spilt diesel and coal on the road.

An articulated truck transporting coal overturned on the N4 via Elands Valley between the Hemlock intersection and Sappi before 11:00 today, September 25. No fatalities have been reported.

Both lanes are obstructed, resulting in a full enclosure of the road.

During the accident, diesel and coal spilled on the road. A clean-up of the fuel was the first priority followed by that of the coal.

Van Wettens Breakdown Services only started turning the truck over after that.

An estimated time of reopening has not been made available, but the recovery continues. Meanwhile, motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays.
