Accident claims one life on the R40 outside White River

The road is currently closed, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

An accident claimed one life near the White River Country Estate turn-off early this morning, December 6.

According to Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med, the accident involved a clipper truck and an LDV. He said they had received a call at about 02:20.

“Upon our arrival on the scene, we found that the driver of the LDV had crashed into the back of the clipper truck. He was declared dead on the scene due to his injuries, while the truck driver was unharmed,” he said.

Jeffrey added that the cause of the accident is unknown at this stage.

Meanwhile, the road is currently closed; motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays.
