Big news for big minds

The Lowvelder is launching the Lowvelder SPAR2U school newspaper and will hit the shelves in SPAR and schools tomorrow.

Introducing an exciting new chapter for our local community, Lowvelder is extremely proud to announce the launch of a free
biweekly newspaper tailored specifically for schools.

Welcome to the first edition.

This initiative is designed to connect, celebrate and inspire young minds across the Lowveld region, bringing the vibrant stories and achievements of our schools to every doorstep. It’s not just news – it’s a platform for learners, teachers and parents to engage and thrive together. Packed with diverse content, the newspaper will shine a spotlight on the incredible talents and endeavours happening within school walls.

From dazzling concerts that showcase artistic brilliance to unforgettable moments on the sports fields, we aim to capture the energy and spirit of our schools. Readers can look forward to features highlighting academic milestones, classroom innovations, extracurricular activities and stories about the outstanding individuals who make our school community great.

With every edition, we’ll ensure there’s something for everyone – whether you’re a learner eager to read about friends’ achievements, a parent tracking your child’s activities, or a teacher celebrating shared successes.

The newspaper will be distributed every second Tuesday to Thursday (depending on the area) with the exception of school holidays, ensuring fresh and engaging content reaches schools and SPAR stores throughout the Lowveld area.

In partnership with SPAR 2U, the collaboration adds an extra layer of excitement to each issue.

As our anchor partner, SPAR 2U is not just a sponsor – it’s a partner committed to enriching the lives of the Lowveld community.

Readers can participate in a thrilling biweekly competition. In every issue, SPAR 2U will be giving away R1 000 to a lucky winner.

Keep an eye out for the SPAR 2U logo in each publication for your chance to win, and don’t forget to check inside for full details on how to enter. We also want to hear from you. Got a story to share, exciting news to celebrate or photos from a recent event?

We’re inviting pupils, teachers, parents and community members to contribute.

Simply email your news and photos to editorial@lowvelder.co.za, and you might see your story in the next edition.
