Fatal accident on newly upgraded Viljoen Street in Lydenburg
A motorcycle collided with a car.

An accident in which a young man died on impact occurred just after 16:00 this afternoon (Thursday, March 27).
The incident between a dirt bike and a car happened at the Viljoen and Brug streets intersection.
According to eyewitnesses and traffic control officers, the woman driving the car was coming from Brug Street.

“She said she saw the bike coming down from Viljoen Street, but that it was still quite a distance away. She stopped at the stop sign and as she was turning into Viljoen Street the motorbike collided with her vehicle,” witnesses and traffic officials explained.
According to Netcare911 paramedics, the driver of the motorbike died on impact.
The name of the deceased cannot be disclosed as relatives are yet to be informed.
The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was in severe shock. More information will be published when it is made available.
Traffic is slow and motorists are urged to use alternative routes.
According to the information received, both driver and rider are students at different institutes.
