Three people were killed and a fourth passenger sustained critical injuries in the early hours of this morning (September 6), when an articulated truck and a red VW Polo collided head-on between Matsulu and Mbombela, near Crocodile Gorge. The truck driver escaped unharmed.

“The cause of the accident is not yet known,” said Moeti Musi, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL).

A stop-and-go is currently in place, and motorists are advised to exercise caution in the area, which has become a high-accident zone over the past few weeks.
