The N4 Northern Bypass just before the R37 (Sabie/Lydenburg) turn-off has been closed following a devastating head-on collision involving two heavy motor vehicles this evening.

According to Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med, emergency services were dispatched to the scene at approximately 20:15 on Tuesday, September 23. On arrival, responders found both truck drivers trapped. They succumbed to their injuries. Jeffrey described the scene as ‘absolute chaos’.

The road is expected to remain closed for a lengthy period.
