Vehicle catches fire in accident in KNP

The cause of the accident is still unknown and an investigation is under way.

What should have been a peaceful breakaway to the Kruger National Park (KNP) on Heritage Day turned into a life-threatening event for four visitors.

SANParks reported that a vehicle veered off a road near Tshokwane Picnic Site in the southern part of the park in the late afternoon of Wednesday, September 24. It landed in a ditch and caught fire.

They suspect that the driver might have lost control of the vehicle.

All four occupants sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

The KNP spokesperson, Reynold Thakhuli, confirmed that the vehicle will be removed today, September 26.
SANParks wished the victims a speedy and full recovery.

An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the accident.
