It’s time for the 2025 Lowvelder Pub Crawl
Gear up pub crawlers the event of the year is around the corner.
Although it may seem like we celebrated the turn of the year just yesterday, the annual Lowvelder Pub Crawl is once again gearing up to roll into town.
This year, on November 1, countless crawlers from the Lowveld and beyond will take to the pubs of Mbombela.
Lowvelder Pub Crawl 2025 rules:
One of the many great things about this pub crawl is the fact that this is your experience. You decide where you would like your day to start, in which order you will be visiting participating establishments and with whom.
Individual and team participation will be catered for, and your team can have any number of members, as long as each one comes to the crawl with their official Lowvelder Pub Crawl 2025 map.
Participants must arrange their own transport.
This allows you to party responsibly and legally.
When to start:
The pub crawl starts at 11:00 and will finish at 18:00. Start at any pub.
The goal is to visit six pubs in six hours, and to get two stamps from each participating pub or bar on the map.
To enter for the competition for the best dressed, photos will be taken between at Mustangs – The Dancing Place from 09:00 to 11:00.
The procedure for collecting your 12 stamps is explained below.
Where to start:
A map with participating establishments will be published in the October 30 edition of Lowvelder.
Crawlers may show up at any of these establishments from 11:00.
From there, navigate your way from the one to the next until you have visited them all. If you visit one pub per hour, you’ll make your way to all of them in time.
How your map will be used:
Each and every participant needs a map.
You will note that the map leads to all participating establishments, and that each has a stamp to be placed on your map when you buy a drink.
A second stamp can be earned if you participate in the hourly ‘happy moment’ (a mini ‘happy hour’ of sorts) while at the bar or pub.
About your drinks:
You do not have to consume alcohol at any time during the Pub Crawl. Liquid beverages of any kind will qualify you for a stamp.
Entry to participating establishments will be free, but the drinks there are for your own account.
How to get from one pub to the next:
You are responsible for arranging your own safe, reliable transport.
You may choose to arrange a taxi and taxi driver for the day. Citybug will provide shuttle services that depart from Mustangs at R100 per person for the day. If you want to book a spot, get in touch with them on 086 133 4433.
Do not drink and drive – driving under the influence of alcohol is illegal. BE SAFE!
If you participate in the Pub Crawl, you indemnify Lowveld Media from any loss or liability incurred during or as a result of your participation. This includes loss or liability suffered by third parties.
You acknowledge that you are responsible for your own safety.
Mustangs will be the seventh pub of the day, and the prize-giving will be held there. Free entry is offered to those whose maps have been fully stamped.
The day’s best-dressed group, best spirit, the best-dressed couple and other spot prize winners will be announced at Mustangs on the night.
To qualify, teams will have to submit their fully stamped maps. Stamp counts will be verified by a trusted team from Lowvelder.
Each team will also have the chance to vote for their favourite pub of the day by voting at Mustangs after the event and handing in your completed map at the entrance.
Only share photos if you are legally allowed to do so.
Participating pubs remain the same as last year, bar one new establishment.
The Outpost Lapa has been added to the list of lekker spots to stop at during the pub crawl.
Marlin Pub and Grill, Bossa Nelspruit, Hennies Nelspruit, Little Loftus and Oppi Hoek are all on board once again and, as always, Mustangs – The Dancing Place will be the final destination for all crawlers.
