Tonga policewoman stabbed to death by husband

A police officer’s life has been cut short amid a domestic dispute in Nkomazi.

A 43-year-old female police officer died after she was allegedly stabbed by her husband in Tundra Trust, Nkomazi, yesterday (Tuesday, December 2).

Not much information surrounding the circumstances of the incident is available at this stage, and police investigations are ongoing.

Lowvelder understands that the couple had a dispute that escalated into a physical altercation during which the stabbing occurred. The deceased officer was attached to Tonga police station.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe confirmed the incident but was unable to immediately provide further details.
“Yes it is true that a female member of the SAPS was stabbed to death by her husband, but I am currently not at liberty to divulge further details as we are still conducting preliminary investigations,” said Nonyane-Mpe.

She added that the Mpumalanga acting police commissioner, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, has travelled to the area for first-hand information.
