Six-vehicle crash claims one life on N4 at Elands Valley

Several people were transported to hospitals in Mbombela following a multi-vehicle collision on the N4.

Six vehicles collided at around 12:05 today on the Elands Valley section of the N4 between Arlie and Hemlock. One passenger died.

Two minibus taxis, three light motor vehicles and an SUV collided when a vehicle suddenly slowed to turn towards Thabisile Farm.

Those involved were taken to various hospitals in Mbombela after sustaining injuries ranging from minor to severe.

“The road is still closed and motorists are advised to use the Schoemanskloof Road instead,” said Moeti Mmusi of the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison.

Recovery operations are under way as police continue their investigation.
