Mpumalanga legislature adopts DA’s motion to install R40 traffic lights

The DA in Mpumalanga has put forward motions for safety on Mbombela’s R40 in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature.

According to member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature (MPL) Trudie Grové-Morgan, a DA motion for the installation of traffic lights at the R40 and D725 intersection in Mbombela was unanimously adopted in a sitting of the MPL on Tuesday, March 10.

Grové-Morgan said this intervention at the University of Mpumalanga (UMP) intersection will enhance safety for students, pedestrians and motorists.

She added that a further DA motion called for traffic lights to be installed at the R40 and Msholozi intersection in White River.

Grové-Morgan said that in light of departmental budget constraints that may delay works, the DA requested deployment of provincial traffic officers to assist in directing traffic and law enforcement.

She said the DA additionally plans to submit written requests for an overhead pedestrian bridge between UMP and Riverside Mall.
