13 Foreign nationals arrested in Pilgrim’s Rest

The foreign nationals allegedly failed to present valid documentation to the police.

13 Foreign nationals, between the ages of 18 and 38, were arrested on Saturday, March 14, by police in Pilgrim’s Rest and Sabie after they allegedly failed to show valid documentation permitting them to be in South Africa.

The suspects face charges of contravening the Immigration Act and a fine was issued for public drinking.

“The detectives are working collaboratively with officials from the Department of Home Affairs to ascertain the status of the arrested suspects,” Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe confirmed.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Pilgrim’s Rest Periodical Court and in Sabie Magistrate’s Court in the coming days.
