Services at the Driving Licence Testing Centre (DLTC) have resumed after a two-week closure for maintenance.
Originally scheduled from March 10 to 16, the maintenance period was extended to March 20.
The closure left many residents frustrated, forcing them to seek assistance at alternative facilities and incurring extra travel costs.

Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL), said the closure was necessary to ensure the safety of staff and the public.
“We are aware that the closure inconvenienced our customers and that the short notice caused problems. We apologise for that. Structural maintenance was needed due to ongoing complaints, and even staff had protested over these issues. These problems have now been resolved,” said Mmusi.

He explained that the extension was beyond their control, as the contractor exceeded the original time frame.
“The DLTC is now fully functional, and officials are working through the backlog to assist everyone. Regarding intermittent system failures, the system is managed nationally. When it goes down, we must wait for it to be fixed. We will also investigate reports of delays to ensure everyone is helped promptly,” he added.
