Mpumalanga SASSA launches easy e-life certification to cut queues
Beneficiaries can now verify their life certificates online through a smooth, self-service platform saving time, travel costs, and reducing long queues at local offices.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) in Mpumalanga is creating awareness about e-life certification, a self-service digital platform that allows beneficiaries to complete their life certification, and it varies the existence of the client and whether the beneficiary qualifies to get the social grand.
Sassa regional executive manager, Abraham Mahlangu said the system is linked to the Department of Home Affairs, and once the process is approved the beneficiary continue to receive the social grant.

“These services will be beneficial to save travelling costs and time. Although the service has been implemented, the agency is not chasing away beneficiaries to visit local offices. We do understand that rural communities will face challenges to access this e-life certification, but they will be assisted and they should not hesitate to visit SASSA local offices to get quality services,” Mahlangu said.

“This is one of the strategies to make life easy for beneficiaries and clamp down on bogus and ghost beneficiaries who keep benefiting unfairly/fraudulently from the taxpayers pot, and close space for deserving or qualifying beneficiaries to receive social assistance,“ he concluded.
