2026 OffRoad Explosion roars to success

The Mpumalanga-based event attracted big crowds to Sudwala Funscapes.

A large number of visitors were drawn to Sudwala Funscapes from April 25 to 27 for this unique experience.

The main event saw 4×4 vehicles tackle a purpose-built obstacle course, with drivers from various clubs testing skill, horsepower and nerves in front of large crowds. The course included challenges ranging from rock crawls to mud pits, resulting in spectacular recoveries and roaring spectators. One of the highlights was a convoy travelling from Mbombela to Weltevreden, which caused a lot of excitement.

Muzi Mpangane, Team Krag president, said the OffRoad Explosion is about more than vehicles and obstacles.

“It’s about community, families and clubs coming together. Seeing families, clubs and sponsors unite like this at Sudwala proves Mpumalanga has the appetite for world-class outdoor events,” he said.

The event also generated impressive foot traffic for local vendors. Following the success of this year’s edition, Mpangane confirmed that planning for OffRoad Explosion 2027 is already under way, with new track elements and expanded camping options.
