Two accidents at Tubatse Crossing intersection

Traffic officers have warned motorists to be cautious when driving in the Burgersfort CBD

Two vehicles were involved in separate accidents at the Tubatse Crossing intersection on the R37 on Sunday, June 21.

The incidents happened between 15:00 and 15:30.

At approximately 15:02, a Toyota Quantum carrying fifteen passengers and a driver overturned while attempting to enter the mall.

Video footage of the incident shows the vehicle flipping onto its roof and landing in a ditch near the entrance of the mall.

The occupants of the vehicle escaped unharmed.

While traffic officials, SAPS and emergency medical services were attending to the taxi crash, a Toyota Tazz with a single occupant lost control and came to a stop againsr nearby roadside culverts. The driver of the Tazz sustained no serious injuries.

Traffic officials at the scene urged motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving in the Burgersfort CBD.

“Once again, we urge drivers to always avoid speeding and remain cautious. They also need to adhere to road signs and traffic lights, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy,” said a traffic official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
