Bushbuckridge manhunt launched after police sergeant killed

A female constable survived being pushed into a hole during a sudden, violent attack that left her colleague dead.

Police are tracking a suspect who allegedly killed a sergeant and injured a female constable during a domestic violence call in Bushbuckridge.

The Mpumalanga police have launched a manhunt following the incident, which occurred yesterday evening.

According to police, the suspect turned violent and struck a 41-year-old sergeant with a sharp object.

He also allegedly pushed a 37-year-old female constable into a hole before fleeing the scene on foot.

Both officers were rushed to a nearby medical facility.

Colleague survives attack

“Unfortunately, the male police sergeant was certified dead on arrival while the female police constable was admitted for further medical treatment,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo.

A case of murder and attempted murder has been opened for investigation.
