Warrants of arrest have been issued for two suspects linked to four fatal shootings in the Calcutta and Masoyi policing areas near Hazyview. Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo said the suspects are wanted in connection with separate murder cases.

Suspects wanted for tavern and trust killings

“Phumulani Ezekiel Matsane is wanted for the murder of two males who were shot and killed at a tavern in Marite, Calcutta policing precinct, on May 15, 2023,” said Masondo.

“Meanwhile, Eric Naas Mashaba is wanted in connection with the murder of two sisters who were shot and killed at Mahushu Trust, Mhlambanyatsi area, Masoyi policing precinct, on May 28, 2023.”

Masondo added that both suspects have evaded arrest since the commission of the crimes.

Public urged to report sightings of armed duo

SAPS has appealed to anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Matsane and Mashaba to contact the nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

“Information can also be provided anonymously via the MySAPS app. All information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality,” Masondo said.

He warned that the suspects are considered armed and dangerous: “Members of the public are urged not to attempt to apprehend them, but to contact the police immediately.”
