SAPS investigates allegedly suspicious Lydenburg death

A Lydenburg man’s body was reportedly discovered by his wife outside their business premises.

An 81-year-old man was found dead in his vehicle in Rivier Street, Lydenburg, on September 1.

Cilla Young (76) discovered the body of her husband, Graham Young, outside Tumbleweed Nurseries, which the couple owned.

According to Cilla, Graham had visible assault wounds and his wrists were bound with cable ties.

She said one of two televisions, his cellphone, and his bank card were missing, indicating he was overpowered and assaulted.

Graham’s death has deeply shocked his family and the local community, where he was a familiar face at the nursery.

Lydenburg SAPS spokesperson Captain Cave Dilebo confirmed that an inquest docket has been opened for investigation.

Dilebo said that if foul play is confirmed following a post-mortem examination, the charge will be changed to murder.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
