Nelspruit Angels are the champs of Mayoral Cup
"When I said my team is hungry for the cup, I meant it," these were the words of the Nelspruit Angels' manager, Sam Mnisi.
This is after his team made history at KaBokweni Stadium when they became the new champions of the annual Mbombela Mayoral Cup u/15 after they had baptised MV3 Stars by 4-0.
Speaking to this publication after the victory, a jubilant Mnisi said, “This is what I was expecting from the beginning of the knockout games. My boys were very well prepared for this tournament.
Their performance has left many soccer teams speechless as we have defeated big teams to reach the finals. I am happy and I say well done to my boys.”
The champions walked away with a brand-new soccer kit, gold medals, a trophy and an amount of R15 000. He indicated that since they had won the cup now, they were waiting for the call to give them the
go-ahead to attend the soccer development trials of Kaizer Chief for which some of the players were nominated.
Players who will be representing the team at the trials include Tumelo Kokwane, Mthobisi Sibande, Peter Maseko, Sibusiso Bulunga, Simiso Khumalo and Sandile Motha.
All this comes after the team had visited Naturena,the club house of Amakhosi in August last year where most of the players were motivated to take their talent in soccer to another level.
