Lowveld bowlers roll with the punches
More than 100 bowlers from all over the country toured to Gauteng to participate in the 32nd National Nomads Tournament in Edenvale.

Bowlers were divided into teams of four – the skip, third, second and a lead. Games were on, bowls were rolling and tricks were tried.
The players battled it out for five days from August 3 to August 7 on the greens. The men’s nationals are one of the biggest Nomads outings on the calendar and are played in different districts each year. In 2015 this tournament will be hosted in Port Elizabeth.
Six bowlers of the Lowveld, Johan Feuth (Barberton), Jacques Stassen (Waterval Boven), Sander Stassen (White River), Darryl Cross (Bungalows – Hazyview), Larry Ireland (Bungalows – Hazyview) and Peter Don (LVCC) participated.
The Lowveld bowlers did their best but struggled on the fast greens. Feuth won the Lowveld trophy for the second year in a row with 49 points and a shot aggregate of 24. Second was Stassen as lead with 45 and a shot aggregate of -10 and his son Sander Stassen with 41 points and a shot aggregate of -11 came third. Cross accumulated 38 points for fourth place and a shot aggregate of -9 and was also a session prize winner for being best lead.
Ireland was fifth with 33 points and a shot aggregate of -32. Don ended in sixth place with 30 points and a shot aggregate of -54.
