Golf day raises R20 000 for Hospice
Local golfers enjoyed a great round of golf to help raise money for Hospice White River.
More than 70 golfers participated in Hospice White River’s Annual Charity Golf Day at the White River Country Club on August 6. Some wore orange as a tribute to Hospice and everyone enjoyed a round of golf on the warm, sunny day.
Just over R20 000 was raised to help Hospice with their most pressing need – running costs. Local companies were extremely generous in their sponsorship and donation of prizes and the prize-giving ceremony at the end of the day was loads of fun. Dirk van der Merwe and Piet Rabie came first, Sue Green and Margaret Finn were second and Laurie Rogers and Phyllis Connelly third.
After the prize-giving George Miller, president of the White River Rotary Club presented Hospice with a brand-new wheelchair. The organisation thanked them for the gift and said it would be put to good use with their patients.
