Bowlers celebrate summer with a tournament
The annual ladies VTN Lowveld spring tournament was held recently hosted at Nelspruit bowling club and Lowveld Country Club (Lvcc).

It was action packed with eighteen teams, 72 bowlers that flocked to the Lowveld to be part of this tournament. The VTN ladies Spring tournament is one of the most famous tournaments in the Lowveld.
Saturday morning the spirit of the bowlers were great, some bowlers tried to play the drawing game were others tried a driving game but in the end it was the team that accumulated the most points who walked away with the prize money of R6000 that was sponsored by VTN.
The format was fours and was played over two days with four games to be played. The games were divided in to skins of seven. For every skin won you could get two points and for a win four points. If you won all the skins and won the game you could accumulate 10 points per game.
After two days of great competitive bowls, prize giving started with Corrie Els, Lowvelds president and Madeleine Wilson Lowvelds competition secretary. Els handed over the prize money to the winning team of R6000 and section winners received R2000 and thanked Wilson for all her help
and organising of the tournament.
Lowveld Spring Tournament winners were Tracy Meyeridricks a Springbok bowler with team mates Jill Sinclair, Judith Aldridge and Cathy Dryburgh from Bryanston with 37 points and a shot aggregate of 68. Second place was a Lowveld team Jeanette Richards, Martie J van Vuuren, Marie Saayman and Hanlie Nel.
Section winners received each R500 and they were:
• Section A: Annetjie Nel’s team from Nelspruit
