Uplands XI sail to victory
The Uplands 1st XI hosted local rivals Hoërskool Nelspruit last Saturday looking to overturn a string of poor results stretching back a number of years.

Nelspruit won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first.
Their top order got away to a flying start but were soon halted by some accurate bowling by Ozayr Karodia and Gavin Botha. Yusuf Patel stymied any hopes Nelspruit had of a strong finish, displaying quality death-bowling skills. After looking on course for 300 plus at one stage, Nelspruit completed their 50 overs on 220 for eight.
Even after losing their openening batsman early the run chase never looked in doubt. This thanks to a match-winning partnership between stalwarts Matt Nepgen and Dean Carlisle, the former ending unbeaten on 67, with Carlisle notching up his second century of the season. Uplands won the match by seven wickets.
