Rowing for improvement
Accelerated Academy's Ewald Steenkamp, rowed the furthest with a distance of 17,135km during the school's sixth annual 24-hour rowing marathon.

To celebrate its new name (formerly known as Manthano Christian School), the event was accelerated by using two rowing machines for 12 hours, still resulting in a 24-hour event.
This is a fund-raiser in which learners receive sponsorships per kilometre. This year, the school invited the public to participate and strut their stuff on the rowing machines. A floating trophy was awarded to Henry Mathebula for winning the speed distance category, rowing 1,492km in five minutes.
This trophy will be up for grabs every year and members of the public are invited to participate next year to dethrone Mathebula. The total distance for the day was 286km. The school would like to thank the following institutions who helped to make the event a resounding success: Riverside Mall, Wimpy Riverside, Detroit SPUR, Incredible Connection, Virgin Active, Pine Lake Inn N4 and Wheel & Tyre.
