Onderberg Marathon Club, United Church of Christ the King and primary sponsors Laeveld Trekkers, Malelane Toyota and TSB Sugar are proud to present the eighth edition of the Boulders 25km race to be held on September 27.

In its original form, this race was 32km long and one of the favourite races in the Lowveld. It was last ran when it was presented by the then SAP running club in 1994.

From 2001 to 2007 the Boulders has been presented as a 25km race, avoiding the very busy and dangerous N4 toll road.

Starting at 06:00 at the Mara turn-off from the N4, about 20km from Mbombela en route to Komatipoort, the race will be run on the Boulders Road over the Crocodile Gorge Mountains through the Crocodile Gorge Nature conservancy area, and finish at Kaapmuiden Primary School.

The entire route with the exception of the last 500 meters, is run on a tarred road. This is a very beautiful and scenic route with a fair share of ups and downs along the way. The race starts with a steep 8km uphill, it then flattens on to a plateau for the downhill towards the Crocodile River.

A last unexpected uphill prepares you for the final stretch to the school grounds where the finish and the hospitality and refreshments of the church group awaits.

A bus will be available from the finish line at Kaapmuiden Primary School to the start of the 25km race at the Mara Turnoff.

Runners can therefore park their vehicles at the school and take the bus to the start. No busses will be available after the race.

The bus will depart at exactly 05:00 and a ticket will cost R20.

Runners are urged to buy a race T-shirt for R30. Proceeds from the sales will go towards Bible distribution.
