Bothma has a ‘kneed’ to hit WP hard

The Steval Pumas livewire eighth man, Renaldo Bothma, was cleared by the medical team of the Steval Pumas, Dr Kobus Hugo, Luzahn Louw and Harry Wiltshire yesterday.

MBOMBELA – The Steval Pumas livewire eighth man, Renaldo Bothma, was cleared by the medical team of the Steval Pumas, Dr Kobus Hugo, Luzahn Louw and Harry Wiltshire yesterday.

He will start in the vital Absa Currie Cup encounter against the DHL Western Province at the Mbombela Stadium tonight.

Bothma suffered a knee injury in the game against the Xerox Golden Lions last weekend. He was rested for the week and received treatment for a right knee bone bruise and swelling on his anterior cruciate ligament.

Bothma has been a crucial part of the Pumas Currie Cup campaign with his bulldozing runs and high work rate.
He seem unfazed by the niggle at the captain’s practice last night and is keen to get on the pitch and give his coach, captain and team-mates his best.

It is unlikely Bothma will play the entire 80 minutes and RW Kember will no doubt get a run. Kember is a more than capable replacement whose skill and excellent ability to read the game will be much appreciated by his team-mates in the latter part of the match.
