Be part of a spectacular race
Enjoy some breathtaking scenery during this weekend's Build it God's Window race, hosted by the Legogote Villagers.
Runners can shine up their running shoes for the marathon on Saturday October 4. It will start at the Graskop Caravan Park at 07:00.
You can do the 21km, 10km or 5km race, which cost R60, R30 and R10 respectively. Temporary licences cost R20. Grandmasters enter for free. If you’re not running fit, you’re welcome to walk the route. Registration starts at 05:30.
Everyone who finishes will receive a medal, with all categories in the 21km and 10km qualifying for prize money. The time limit is three hours.
It is a fairly tough route but the scenery makes up for all the effort. It starts just outside the caravan park and takes runners along the Graskop/Ohrigstad Road, a relatively easy route. It turns right into God’s Window and then the real work begins – a 7km climb to the top of the hill. This will be a good time to slow down to a walk and enjoy the view. The downhill section gives runners a bit of a breather. The scenery on this race is spectacular and often there is morning mist to add to the ambiance.
