Athlete’s endurance secures him silver

Local athlete, Pietie Oosthuizen obtained silver at the Biathe/Triathle World Championships 2014 held at the Naval Academy of Puerto San Jose in Central America this past weekend.

Local athlete, Pietie Oosthuizen obtained silver at the Biathe/Triathle World Championships 2014 held at the Naval Academy of Puerto San Jose in Central America this past weekend.

Hundreds of athletes – a great number of whom participated in all competitions – from across the globe amazed spectators with their stamina, determination and passion over three days as they pushed themselves to the limit.

“It was one of the toughest races I have ever competed in. With 85 per cent humidity and a strong field of athletes, I managed to secure a silver medal.

Thanks to everyone who thought of me and stood behind me all the time. It’s hard work from here on and I’ll be back next year.”

He competed in the junior male category finishing the race in 17:57:00. Charles Fernandez of Guatemala finished first in 17:48:00.
