It is time for equestrian magic

The province's biggest equestrian event, the Mpumalanga Dressage Championships, will be held right here on home ground in the Lowveld.

Uplands Equestrian Centre is this year’s host of this prestigious event on October 17 and 18. And what an event it promises to be!

Ever fancied to dress up like spectators at the Durban July? Then this will be your chance. Spectacular prizes such as photo shoots and massages will be awarded to the best dressed spectator on Sunday. So don your fancy hat and feathers, pack your picnic basket and champagne and come watch the province’s best horses dance to music.

Breathtaking freestyle dressage to music will take place on Sunday too. This is the equivalent of equine ballet and not something that you see everyday.

The normal dressage classes, from tiny toddlers on their shiny ponies to equestrian grannies on their noble steeds, will take place the whole of Saturday with the top 10 horses in each class qualifying for the championships classes to be held on Sunday.

Show organisers confirmed that entries had been received from across the province and that this will be the social and equestrian event of the year! You don’t have to be a horse rider or expert to enjoy the elegance and beauty of these magnificent creatures.
