League to kick off this weekend
The Mpumalanga Safa ABC Motsepe Second Division League will finally kick-off this coming weekend.
The Mpumalanga Safa ABC Motsepe Second Division League will finally kick-off this coming weekend.
This has been confirmed by Barberton City Stars spokesman, Mabobo Mhlanga. “We have finally at last received correspondence from Safa informing us that league will resume this weekend. It has been strenuous for the players to train and not play competitive matches.”
He says their aim this season is to win the league and qualify for the National First Division next season.
“We have been in this league for too long and we need to move elsewhere. If it’s not this season, it will never be. We have retained most of our players and we believe in the team that we have assembled.”
He also confirmed that they would play their home games at Barberton Prison Farm Sports ground.
“Since there are no suitable venues to host our games around Emjindini, we have no choice but to play our home games there. We know that there will be a challenge of transport for our supporters, but we will assist them where we can,” said Mhlanga.
At the time of going to print, the league fixtures had not yet been confirmed. For more information on when Stars will play and against whom, follow Barberton Times website – www.barbertontimes.co.za
