Bafana return to fortress Mbombela

South Africa’s next Afcon qualifying match will be played next month at the ground where they have never lost. If Bafana win the match they will qualify for Afcon 2015.

MBOMBELA – Bafana Bafana will play Sudan in an Afcon qualifier at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday November 15.
This was confirmed by Mr Roelf Kotze, Mbombela Stadium manager yesterday.

Bafana Bafana thrashed Sudan 3-0 at El Merreikh Stadium in Omdurman in the away fixture last month.

South Africa lead Group A with eight points while Sudan are languishing in fourth place with just three points. A win at Mbombela Stadium would see Bafana qualify for the finals in January 2015.

South Africa have played five matches at Mbombela Stadium and won four. An amazing statistic is that South Africa scored 11 goals and have yet to concede a goal at Mbombela Stadium. In two Afcon qualifiers and three friendlies Bafana’s record at Mbombela Stadium is:

South Africa 4 – Thailand 0 (2010 friendly)
South Africa 2 – Niger 0 (2010 Afcon qualifier)

South Africa 0 – Sierra Leone 0 (2011, Afcon qulifier)
South Africa 3 – Gabon 0 (2012 friendly)
South Africa 2 – Mozambique 0 (2012 friendly)

Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday at Computicket and Mbombela Stadium. Upper tier tickets will cost R50 and lower tier R100
