Uruguay FC wins the Mabocha tourney
In the earlier games Sahlela lost 1-0 against Uruguay, and Manchester City was vanquished 4-3 in penalties against Burkina Faso.
Rookies Uruguay FC are slowly proving that they are the powerhouse in Tubatse’s amateur football ranks.
The team that consist mostly of young and ambitious players from Mabocha Village, won the local community tourney that was played at the All-stars sports grounds on Sunday.
The team defeated Manchester City FC 1-0 in the final of Mabocha’s weekly tourney, the winning goal was scored by midfielder Davy Makofane. Uruguay coach, Lewe Branco Makofane told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that it took him years to built a team of Uruguay’s calibre.
“I studied our rivals like Shoeshine, Nkoro, Sahlela and Burkina Faso football clubs and saw their weaknesses. My team plays free-flowing and attractive football. I am optimistic that we will upset a lot of teams when we lock horns with them,” the mentor said.
