High school soccer players let their feet do the talking
Solly Mpayane of the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation visited to help motivate the players and present the trophies and medals.
Soccer players from 16 Lowveld schools recently had the opportunity to let their feet do the talking in the first Penreach Soccer Tournament held at Penryn College on November 1, 2014.
Teams which participated included Hoërskool Bergvlam, Hoërskool Lydenburg, Barberton, Penryn College, Fundinjobo, Mthombo Sabane and Hlanganani high schools.
Eight teams from Penreach sponsored the schools and eight private schools competed.
Fundinjobo took honours in the boys category with a victory against Penryn College. Fundinjobo repeated this winning form when its girls team triumphed over Penryn College in the final.
The action started at 08:30 and finished at 14:30. The highlight of the tournament was the prize-giving ceremony. Solly Mpayane of the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation visited to help motivate the players and present the trophies and medals.
Teachers, taxi drivers, members of the community and parents came to watch and support their kids on the day.

• Senior boys – Fundinjobo High School
• Senior girls – Fundinjobo High School
• Junior boys – Mthombo High School
• Junior girls – Penryn College

• Senior girls – Penryn College
• Junior boys – Sabane High School
• Junior girls – Mthombo High School
• Best players; Under 16 boys – Mafika Milazi from Sabane High School.
Under 16 girls – Nandi Cumbi of Penryn Open Boys.
