Local riders hold their own in champs
The Mpumalanga open adult showing team received a fourth place overall at the South African Showing Championships. In the team event Kraai Kamffer on Beach Haven On Track came third in the working hunter, Lydia Kapp on Ubermeister received a third in the show hunter and Landé Willemse on Belton a seventh in the working-riding class.
In the individual classes Willemse and Belton came second in the open working hunter at only two points behind the winner. It’s an extremely technical course with proper rustic fences and competitors had to jump over a life-size horse made out of wood.
There were several disqualifications for horses refusing to jump and those not completing the course. Kamffer and On Track received bronze in this class. Most of the horses found the indoor arena frightening and this made them difficult to handle.
The Challenge Team came third overall with Rochelle Riley on Brandenburg Sangiro coming fourth in show hunter, Tash Whyte on Brandenburg Special Assignment received a third place in show riding, Carin Marx on Katanga Look Forward was third in working riding and Jessica Kamffer on Africa’s Wizzbar came fifth in working hunter.
Individual class results
• Kraai Kamffer on On Track came fourth in the warmblood breed working hunter, and fourth on Carel Hancke Summer Breeze in the warmblood breed show riding class.
• Landé Willemse on Belton received a fourth place in the general breed working hunter and also fourth on Africa’s Wizzbar in the general breed show hunter classes.
• Tash Whyte came third in the open show riding horse class on Brandenburg Special Assignment, and first in the warmblood working riding horse class. They were also crowned the warmblood working horse champions.
• In the warmblood team event Whyte rode with a Gauteng girl and they came fourth overall.
• Annual fun class – Carine Marx on Look Forward.
